Incision site- 4 weeks post op (mound of skin)

I am beginning to be very worried that my stomach will never look the same. I have a large mound of skin over the incision site, which protrudes out over the lower portion of my stomach. I didn't have that problem with my c sections. Will my stomach ever flatten out? I am beginning to feel like it is permanent. Does anyone else have this? If I compare it to a set of lips...it looks like I have a huge fat lip on top and a small, regular lip on bottom. You can see this through my clothes. Thanks for any advice out there.

Re: Incision site- 4 weeks post op

I would definitely ask the doctor why the skin is like this and if it will get better. Perhaps he will be able to fix it.
I am sorry you are having this problem. Hopefully, someone will come along with this experience and have some answers.

I had something similar and it took months for it to flatten out. It is due to swelling for the most part. I did ask my doctors about it and they both told me that since I was slim (I don't think of myself as slim but nice that someone does), it would flatten. I am 100% flat on one side and about 95% on the other side. Give it time and you should be the same if your tummy was flat before.

I did have the same problem as you did. My Dr recommended I use mederma and that seemed to help my incision is already flat and I am 5 weeks post op. Maybe you can try that.

Re: Incision site- 4 weeks post op (mound of skin)

That sounds somewhat similar to what I have.
A kind of lump above one side of my incision.
I thought I was getting a hernia at first, but my mom told me it was too small for that. So I asked the doctor, and she said it was probably scar tissue, blood, or fluid build up that should go down over time.
I sure hope it does, cause it makes me look rather lopsided! It doesn't hurt & hasn't changed in size, and I've had since week 1.
So maybe yours is something like that, but make sure to have your doctor look at it!

You do not sound vain. I was horrified at how my tummy looked after surgery even though I am way past bikini days. It still doesn't look the way I want but it has improved a 1000 times since the first few months after surgery. It took about 8 months for the swelling to go down even though I had minimal swelling and I wasn't sure if it was fat, scarring or what. Please keep us posted on what your doctor says.
