Upcoming hysterectomy 09/25: Overwhelmed and nervous!

It's finally official: I've got a date. After countless attempts at failed symptom management, I am scheduled for an excision/hysterectomy for endometriosis and adenomyosis. Being that my surgeon is an endometriosis excision specialist, I've got a bit of a wait. Good for prepping, bad for my nerves!

I'm pretty terrified of the whole ordeal, but I'm trying to keep myself busy. My deep freeze is going to look like I'm a squirrel hoarding for winter by the time I'm done. I have two baked oatmeals, two sets of breakfast sandwiches, gumbo, chicken spaghetti, and chicken noodle soup... and that's only so far!

I've done my research here and on other support groups on facebook... gonna buy some loose skirts and pants, I'm trying to walk my neighborhood everyday, trying to get some things to do in order... and trying NOT to freak out!

Any words of encouragement or advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking forward to participating here more, now that my surgery's on the horizon!

Hi, Yes time to think about your surgery is unnerving, mine is July 24, I'm trying to stay busy as well cooking. I've made chili, stew, and beans and corn bread. I've frozen these meals already and plan to do a small cook out Wednesday and make a meatloaf.

It helps to have a good support system, I have a sister and friend at work that have already had hysterectomies. They are doing fine, so I'm going to believe I will too. Get things ready at home for your recovery, I only had a week, you can be so prepared!

You will be fine and your recovery will be smooth sailing. I will wait for you on the other side.

Keep yourself very busy - that can take your mind off surgery. Walking and exercising helps.
