Cryo-Treatment Pain - When does it Stop?
Hello All!
I just had my 6 wk post-op appt yesterday with my Doctor and he discovered that I had vaginal cuff granulation tissue from a tear I incurred my first weak after surgery. He performed a cryo-treatment, of which I knew nothing of before the nurse walked out saying "have fun freezing." He spent several minutes "freezing" off the mushroom of tissue as he called it and told me I would have a couple weeks of watery discharge, a couple weeks of bleeding and then a couple weeks of mixed discharge (sorry for TMI). I never expected the pain I'm in today. I felt a little tummy cramping yesterday, but today I feel as if my kidneys and lower back have been run over by a dump truck. Tonight I actually took one of my left-over pain meds hoping to ease the pain a bit, but I'm hoping someone can help me understand how long to expect these feelings. I've been back to pretty-normal activity for a couple of weeks and have been walking (treadmilling) a mile or two just about every day so didn't think my physical shape was that out of whack. Where have I gone wrong? I've also felt the tears all day. Would this also be tied to the pain so they'll stop with the pain does or have I screwed up my hormones again with the treatment?
I'm sorry about the jumble of questioning, but I don't know where else to go with my wondering and with my research on HysterSisters I don't see too many cryo-references. Please, if anyone can just tell me I'm not going insane, I'd so very much appreciate it!
Thanks for the support, Ladies!

Re: Cryo-Treatment Pain - When does it Stop?
Wendy, I am so sorry about all your frustration. I am only day 10 post op so I can't comment on the cryo. But, I do know about pain! Ask for pain medication so you can get it under control. Talk to your doctor....they take calls day and night. You should be comfortable while you are healing so your body is not under stress. Advocate for your own pain control. We'd never let a friend suffer yet we put up with too much ourselves. You have had another invasive procedure and it's a whole new healing process. I think you will find the tears will be less once the pain is under control. Weeping and pain lead to depressive thoughts. Get something that works and keep resting. Blessings to you.

Re: Cryo-Treatment Pain - When does it Stop?
Hi Wendy, I agree with CurlyMichele. Give the doctor a call and ask for medication for pain control. If your allowed to take NSAID and tylenol try alternating them. You may also get some relief from a hot pack or cold pack. The area that was treated with cryotherapy is inflamed and needs to heal. I do not think your hormones were affected at all. Rest up, get the pain under control and I'm sure the tears will stop soon. You didn't expect this so you were not ready to deal with it from a physical or emotional level. Hang in there - it will get better. Cry if it makes you feel better, just don't expect friends or family to understand but we will

Re: Cryo-Treatment Pain - When does it Stop?
I'd want to check with the dr. too just to make sure what you're feeling is normal. I had the cyro-surgery a couple yrs ago for precancerous cells on my cervix and I don't remember that much pain, especially the next day. It might be completely normal, but it can't hurt to ask. I can't see that the treatment would actually cause your hormones to go wacko but I do think that our hormones are probably subject to being thrown off more easily right now. I was having some strange pain last night and found myself getting more upset than usual. I think it's just frustrating and scary when things aren't going the way we expected them too. If I were you, I'd take things very slow and easy this weekend and give yourself some time to recover from this latest procedure. Don't be afraid to use your pain meds if it gives you relief. I hope you feel better soon and this isn't anything unusual. For the record - you're not going insane

Please call the Dr. and ask him if what you are feeling is normal. I had cryo a few years ago, and don't remember any particular pain with it, just a horribly foul-smelling discharge. (Sorry if that's TMI).
Please check with him. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Re: Cryo-Treatment Pain - When does it Stop?
Thanks to all of you caring ladies! I most definitely will call my doctor. I'm in a better frame of mind today after the pain meds have kicked in and I'm wondering if my muscles were just reacting to the unexpected treatment and its taken this long for them to start relaxing. I hope to not go through this again but in three months when I have a check up again, if worse comes to worse, I'll go prepared and ask for meds before and after treatment! Thank you for supporting me through this! Its nice to know I have a place to come to be understood.
