Swelly Belly!?!? How long??

Hi all, I'm getting my Robotic Hysterectomy in 11 days, and I'm reading a lot that the swelly belly lasts up to 6-12 months :/ I hope that isn't the case...I was diagnosed with Adeno, and one of the huge problems with me is the prego belly...and I was excited that getting my uterus out that I'll be feeling "normal" again....is it really going to take that long for the swelling to go down????

I think for most women the swelly belly pretty much goes away during the first few weeks post-op. If you have an enlarged belly now from the adenomyosis, then after a few weeks you may have a flatter belly than you do now.

I was back in my regular jeans within a week of my surgery. No one knows before hand how their body will be responding to the surgery.

I had adenomyosis with a huge swollen tummy. I was expecting to be flat after surgery. That wasn't the case. I am 8 weeks post op and still have swelly belly. I can not wear any of my pre op clothes. ( even the ones I wore with my original adenomyosis swelly belly) This has been depressing. Durning my hyster recovery initially I wore pajama bottoms and sweat pants, which was fine since I wasn't going anyplace anyways. At 8 weeks post op it's a different story!! At 4 weeks I had ( embarrassing) my daughter mail me some maternity pants so at least I could go outside in public.I didn't want to go buy a bunch of clothes I'd only need a week or 2. At 8 weeks I had to break down and go to a thrift shop and buy a whole pile of stretchy shorts and pants. My belly isn't huge anymore, just swollen enough that I have doubts I'll be fitting in regular button up pants for quite some time.This has been a huge annoyance. Late at night even my pajama pants feel tight. The swelling gets worse at night.Hopefully you'll be one of the lucky ones and yours will go down quickly. Just in case it doesn't, be prepared ahead of time. I'd go now to a thrift store and stock up on stretchy pants. You can always re donate them later. I got a huge bag of clothes for only $30 at Salavation Army.It was depressing shopping there at 8 weeks post op with my huge belly that I was so wishing I didn't have. I think If I had shopped there pre op It would have been fun and not depressed me!!

I too had adeno, I am two weeks today post op. I have a little swelling but I haven't even tried jeans my surgery was abdominal and the site of the incision is to tender. I wear over sized boxers and stretchy bands shorts. I'll try jeans eventually, but right now I'm just glad to be feeling so much better.

Wow. I didn't think it could last that long. I guess my little shopping spree is a good thing. I've only got a couple of stretchy shorts and sweatpants so I added a couple of jammy shorts and knit capris. I guess I won't be getting rid of my fat jeans and shorts.
