CT scans 4 months apart conflict as well as sonograms, exhausted and in pain

Hello ladies,

I am open to input or anyone that has had similar issues. I'm very emotionally and physically drained. I had a supercervical hysterectomy in 2011, I kept my cervix and ovaries. I'm now 44 years old.

In late August 2016 I was hit one day with extreme fatigue and I mean disabling fatigue. I live in Florida and the Heat made it even worse. I made appointment with Mayo since it was close by. I weighed 175 august 30th.

9/19/16 I went to a doctor in a box bc I had extreme rib pain and severe nasauted. They just wrote me a script of zofran for nasea and said they let Mayo follow up on me. I thought I had a bad UTI bc I had to all of a sudden tinkle all the time. They said no UTI , just lowered creatinine level.

11/2016. Mayo did overnight pulse oxim oxygen test. Results were bad but they said artificial causes and my oxygen during sleep was fine.

11/28/16 mayo finally did CT scan and noted ovaries and uterus were there (I realize that the cervix could have displayed as my uterus on the scan).

In Eary March my mom took me for a second opinion about my oxygen at night bc of serious decline in my well being. From beg of dec to match my memory is blurry, we now know why bc I ended up with a rare diagnosis of Nocturnal Hypoxemia. Usually something causes this and I suspected it my growing abdomen and weight gain that I had no control over. But prior in Nov during my first test that Mayo dismissed I was not as heavy. Later in March due to severe pain o ended up in ER. They did a CT scan which revealed a a bladder issue but did not state they saw either ovaries or uterus.

I followed up on bladder and during pelvic sono, my ovaries and pelvic floor were clearly seen. My bladder checked out fine and still no answer why I had to tinkle all the time.

Just a few weeks ago I went to ER bc of severe cramping, major lower back pain, naseau and hardly anymore space for me to breath. I've now gained 50 pounds since late August.

The CT scan and MRI they did once again state no ovaries or uterus seen. They did a repeat pelvic sono and that report read I had BOTH my ovaries removed as well as had bowel/intestines hanging in my pelvic floor (which was not seen just a few weeks prior).

Because they can't see a mass or anything on any of the scans there just letting me go and I'm struggling to breath. My belly is so swollen.

I cry out of fear one day I won't be able to breath. Doctors all state diff things such as I need to lose weight even though I only eat maybe 1200-1400 calories a day bc I can't fit much in me, I can't get out of bed or off couch without help. This is TMI but in mid Jan I started not being able to wipe myself freely anymore.

I plan on going to radiology this week and asking them to compare the difference in scans? I wonder if something is in me blocking my ovaries from showing and now pushing bowel into pelvic floor on top of pushing on my diaphragm making it hard to breath.

I'm scared, confused and done know what to do. Anyone else out there have this occur? Shouldn't they see my ovaries in the more recent scans if they appeared in Nov and why do I have intestines now in my pelvic floor?

Dear Jrogan:

I'm so sorry to hear that your symptoms haven't had a clear diagnosis yet. Did you get to talk to someone in radiology?

I hope you are able to find the right answers soon. I am sending huge cyberhugs

This is a long shot... but could there be something going on with your kidneys? My brother-in-law had weight gain and swelling abdomen as well as exhaustion, and it turned out to be a type of renal (kidney) failure. It required a biopsy to confirm since what was damaged were the small blood vessels within his kidneys - not readily noted through scans.

I don't know if you've seen any internists in your shuffle from doctor to doctor; might it be time to seek an opinion outside of Mayo? I certainly hope you find an answer.
