Humor at a time like this?

Anyone else out there dealing with this through humor? I can't believe I'm going thriugh this at 47 and without my Mom. Since I don't have a mother figure in my life even, I just needed to vent to others who have been there and are going through it. So, what should I expect in the way of pre-op? Any good tips for what to take to the hospital? Oh, and how about losing a few pounds before surgery. think that helps?

Humor at a time like this?

That is too funny.... my husband is a trucker and has been told by other truckers that after a few months post surgery, women just want it all the time. He had to go to the doctor yeaterday and came home with VIAGRA samples so he like all good boy scouts would be prepared....LOL

humor is a necessity

hello tiggerette.. I like the name...
I found the closer and clsoer I got to surgery, the more I needed to find humour in all this. Otherwise I'd go crazy. Someone made a post about bowel prep(something I was NOT looking forward to), which ended up one very funny thread. A few of the women having surgery the same day as I ended up laughing thru it with me. I also found it very comforting to be surrounded by women who were either going thru it with me, or had gone thru it. I'm 40, and have a mother, but the sisters here were my support group, because of experience.
Even up till I was wheeled into the operating room, I had to try humour. I had surgery on a Monday. I made the doctor hold his hands out to make sure they were steady. I asked EVERYONE if they had a good weekend, and made sure none of them were in a fight with their significant others. LOL The anesthesiologist told me he had a great weekend. He said he was out drinking all weekend, and not to worry- he was still too drunk to have a hangover .
So, ask questions, read up, share your miseries, frustrations, pains, worries, and your humour. And good luck to ya!
