What's your problem? 5 months since surgery, How are you?
Ok, So I had a hysterectomy May 1, kept both ovaries and I am having some major issues.
1. Cold / hot flashes .....
2. Moody as h*ll
3. Have my boobs grown?
4. I have gained 12 pounds!!!!!
5. Craving sugar like a maniac.... (literally made some apples with a little cinnamon and brown sugar and considered eating a spoonful of brown sugar!!)
I feel like I am always hungry!!
Does this pass???? Anyone??? Am I going to turn into a big, huge blimp??

Re: What's your problem? 5 months since surgery, How are you?
While I'm not quite 7 weeks out I can relate to the *cold* flashes.. Only had a handful of hot. I'm pretty moody lately, but the more I sleep at night the less moody I am. Which I'm surprisingly not an insomniac lately (I was pre op). Not craving sugar, actually I've toned down my use, but I am craving milk like its the only drink left on the earth. I too always feel like I'm hungry, but I often forget to eat. Oops. I don't think my boobs have grown, thank goodness cause I'm a DDD already. Blah. Lol

Re: What's your problem? 5 months since surgery, How are you?
I am right with you. I had my total hysterectomy April 5th and I had the 8 weeks off to rest. I work retail and i have been back to work now 3 months and in my job I have to stand for 9 or 10 hours a day 5 days a week. I have gained weight and can not lose it! I have tried low carb, counting calories, and even quit social drinking. I am on my feet like I said for 9 hours minimum and the last thing I want to do is exercise. My swelly belly is round and hard.. by the time I get off of work and go to bed I wake up and it is still hard. I have hot flashes at night but I have a fan on. My doctor gave me the patch but I am not on it as that causes weight gain. I am not moody a plus, but I can not fit in any of my cloths. I made an appt to follow up with my doctor to see what is going on. Not sure what to do any more either. Stay strong. I hope this will get better.

I also work retail, i feel for you... I have not went back in to the doctor to discuss anything as I am scared of weight gain... I too have that darn swollen gut... Ugh... Did your dr say all your symptoms are " normal"?
I have also had to ditch my relationship with margaritas... Darn it!!!

Wow, let me see if I can help a little. If you still have an ovary or two, you will still have PMS which can explain some of the moodiness. Further, sometimes it can take quite a while for the ovaries to start working again, at least working normally. That could explain the moodiness and even weight gain. Contrary to what some believe, having low estrogen can lead to difficulty losing weight. I wasn't able to lose weight until I got my hormones balanced fairly well. If you have a sputtering ovary, that can be tricky. You might want to talk to you doc about it if things aren't improving.

Re: What's your problem? 5 months since surgery, How are you?
I haven't been on the site for a while but wanted to see if my continued swelly belly & weight gain was normal. Obviously it is...as well as the uncontrollable moodiness. Yesterday I thought my head was going to spin around & I might projectile spew split pea soup! Felt possessed by the b*tch demon. As for boobs- I had a double mastectomy in 2006 (tomorrow is my cancerversary which I sort of attributed to this weeks moodiness) but I am sick & tired of the tight clothes & feeling like I can't do anything to make the belly go away. Ugh! I'm hoping more time will help me correct the weight gain issue and I need to be honest with myself about not taking enough relaxation time for myself.
If there were only two of me! That would solve everything! LOL

Thank you Elsie, I am going to schedule a dr appt... But our plates are SO full with kid schedules.. I also have the issue of having no more sick time at work... Aka, time to take off for a Dr appt...
Pink!!! Although such a bittersweet time, blessings be to you sister.
What is the issue with the tummy bloat??? I do not understand, is every ounce gained settling there now?
It is becoming Fall... No flipping way my jeans will fit... Or fit to not make me nuts!!

Re: What's your problem? 5 months since surgery, How are you?
I've gained a few pounds too and my boobs are bigger. I just started on bioidentical hormones so I hope those will help. Already the hot flashes are almost gone so that is good. But I am craving sugar as well. And I need to cut out the cocktails for the most part because that is when I really want to eat! Need to get back on track! Bought a bigger pair of jeans, but I am still hoping to get into the old ones!
