2 Weeks Post Op

Its 2 weeks since my op and hopefully things seem to be going well. I have a few twinges here and there which I suppose is natural after what my body went through. I'm walking more each day and I've even started doing light jobs around the house. Theres one thing thats been niggling at the back of mind. Because I had a total hysterectomy I was wondering if I will go through the menapause again. I'd only just gone through it before all this crap started. Can anyone enlighten me please?

Hi there--glad you are doing so well! I can't tell from your note whether the doc took your ovaries or not; and I can't tell if you had already been thru the 'Pause... if you've already been through menopause, you're through, not to worry. If you hadn't yet gone thru menopause and still had your ovaries on the day of surgery, two possibilities: either your ovaries came out at the time of surgery, in which case you'll be going through "surgical menopause" all at once; or, the ovaries are still in there, in which case at some point they will undergo menopause and you'll get all this lovely fun stuff like hot flashes and so on. Some ladies ask the doc for HRT to get through it, others don't want that----you can always ask about it if you're having menopause symptoms. In other words, it kinda depends on what tey took out, and where you were in the process. Hang in there! Hope that helps.
