little blue pill?

I'll try to find a delicate way to ask this. I anticipate being cleared for sex in a few weeks, and I've been trying to figure out how everything is going to work. My husband has high blood pressure and is on medication for it, and if you watch many American commercials, you know that one of the effects of this means that it helps if he takes a little blue pill to make everything work more easily and more, um, firmly. So my question is this: for those of you in a similar situation, did your partner use the pill the first time back, and do you think this was the right choice? I'm trying to figure out if which will make for a more tolerable experience for me.

Thanks.

Chris,

I am not at the sex point yet, so I cannot offer experience on that level. But my DH also takes the little blue pill. He, too, is on blood pressure meds and the blue pill helps him to have a normal erection. That said, the only reason I can think that viagra would make the experience more difficult for you is if it makes him go for too long. If that is the case, you could either have him try without the viagra (but keep in mind he may be already nervous since it is the first time post surgery and that may affect performance).

good luck and have fun!

I don't think he's nervous at all. It's more like he's anxious for the day to get here soon. I just want to get this first time over so I can stop worrying about how it's going to feel.

Chris and CC,

I love you two! You both are fabulous at sharing issues we are all thinking about... My DH and I have been discussing this at length (trust me more talk from him than me). My DH has HBP and has been Diabetic for 40+ years and that creates many of the issues you both brought up.

His primary care doc is the DH of my primary who has kept a close eye on my recovery. My DH has an appointment a week or so before I should be "available" and they plan to discuss what is apprporiate at that time.

I guess I am not too worried about the viagra part. I mean, for us, the viagra makes DH "normal". He doesn't have the problem with prolonged erection like some men do. I think that would be the only problem. I mean, your first time, you really don't want to be doing it for 30min!

Have fun,

CC

You're right, though, that Viagra makes it more normal, and I think we'll probably use it. I'm still having discharge, so I don't know when I'll be cleared for all of this anyway.

(((Sisters))), it's understandable that there is concern about resuming intercourse post-op and it's not just we women who worry--often the partner is very worried, too. My husband was as nervous as I was but it all went just fine when I made the decision, weeks after being released by the doctor, to resume intimacy.
