How long do stitches take to dissolve?

I'm two months post op and I still feel pain and sometimes pokey inside where my stitches are. How long do stitches take to dissolve?

They told me 4 weeks .... = s

It could just be your nerve endings and muscles trying to put themselves back together. It's a major surgery and 2 months really doesn't seem that long, although to you I'm sure you're ready to move on! Your body needs time to heal itself, it could take awhile longer.

If you get your operative report from your doctor, it will state in there what kind of sutures were used and you can look them up on the net to see how long they take to dissolve. The stitches used inside me dissolved between 56 and 70 days.

My doc told me it would take 8-10 weeks for them to dissolve.
