I got my surgery date!!

the hospital called today and they approved my surgery (it had to be approved ahead of time since I dont have insurance). My date is May 27th. My pre-op appointment is May 24th. I am so relieved and also absolutely terrified (I've never had ANY surgery before!) I have been suffering from adenomyosis for years (diagnosed in 1999) and am so ready for this.

I am going to keep my ovaries since I am only 27 and dont want to do hormone replacement.

So the countdown begins and I'm glad I have somewhere to come for support!

And don't worry about being terrified. We all fear the unknown. But the relief this will bring is so great to look forward to! I have adeno also and believe me, I can't wait for my surgery this Friday.

You will find there are a few younger women here as well. You are a brave one to come to this decision so young. I wish I would have, I have suffered needlessly for an extra 6 years, trying to fix the unfixable! But hindsight eh???

Hi! the thing that gave me the courage to do this so young is that my mother suffered for 20 YEARS with the same thing (plus she had fibroids too). The doctor kept telling her repeatedly that she was going to have to have a hysterectomy but she was so afraid. She finally had it in 1994. She was 47 years old and she said it was the best thing she ever done and she wished she had done it sooner. I have the same doctor she had. He's delivered all four of my children and he's a really good doctor. I totally trust him. I dont want to suffer another 20+ years and I've already had all the kids I want to have so I definitely think it's the right thing to do! :-)

I got my date today also. May 25th, pre-op May 19th. I am really happy (endo) 5 years. But I am also terrified. I have 3 kids and worried about them. Good luck to you and will write again when over..Shawn
