Purple
I know you feel scared & overwhelmed right now, but you will feel much better after you get this taken care of. I had the same surgery you are getting 9 weeks ago and I also had 4 huge fibroids. I feel wonderful now. I made the right decision. Please talk with someone who can give you some guidance on accepting this for your health, a counselor or someone at your church? You will be OK. Sending cyber hugs.

I am sorry to hear you were diagnosed with complex hyperplasia with atypia.
You can definitely ask your Dr for some meds to get you through to surgery day.
Hearing that you need this surgery due to a pre-cancer diagnosis after you lived according to the rules only adds to the feelings of injustice. You may find after the surgery that talking to someone will help you process all the thoughts and feelings. I know I have been working on things since I was diagnosed almost 5 years ago.
It does get better but it takes time. Just know we are here for you.

Re: Alone and Sacred
Hugs purple, this is one of the hardest life events I've ever faced emotionally. None of this is your fault and don't blame yourself for it. You've got a whole other purpose on the other side. You're not alone, you have a mass of friends that don't even know you pulling for you. Hugs.

Re: Alone and Sacred
Purple -
What you are feeling is very normal - you are not alone. This is one tough surgery to process and to contemplate. You are loosing something very intimate. You are loosing something that has made its presence known to you, for better or worse, on a monthly basis. And now, that is being taken away from you. Of course you are upset, of course you feel cheated. It is very, very hard to say goodbye to your uterus, cervix, tubes, and ovaries.
Sweetie, you are not weak. You are a very strong women dealing with a very emotionally charged situation. It is okay to have strong emotions, nerves, fears, and freakouts over this surgery. We really understand what you are going through.
Keep getting on this site to express your feelings - it really does help. And we are here support you - we will be by your side throughout this.

Re: Alone and Sacred
Dear purple,
I am so sorry you are going through this alone. I hope your friend meant well when she said you needed help we all have a hard time facing major surgery. Since you said you are a Christian woman I thought I would add a scripture passage that helps me when I feel overcome.
John 16:33
"I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

Re: Alone and Sacred
Hi Purple, (((GREAT BIG HUGS))) to you. It is completely understandable to be nervous and scared. Waiting is a very difficult and fear of the unknown is tough.
You didn't do anything wrong, and you are not weak. You are stronger than even you can imagine. You will get through this; "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:23, and although we are not physically with you, you have an entire community of sisters by your side
This is my favorite scripture, maybe it will help you:
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says The Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end
Jeremiah 29:11
Sweetie, He is not just acquainted with you, He knows you and loves you and He understands. Put this in His hands. He's got this and He had you!
((HUGS))

Re: Alone and Sacred
You are definitely not alone! I completely understand where your coming from because I am having surgery on July 3rd for the same thing. Single and 47...that's me. Just had my pre op this morning. And I started crying in the office. She assured me that its normal as this is not only a major surgery, but a major change...for the better. Its not fair, I agree, I have those thoughts all the time. But..God knows best and we have to have the faith to believe that as hard as it may be he will get us through it. I have some friends that I tell that are very helpful and I have a couple that treat it as no big deal. It can be very frustrating to try to explain it to them so I have chosen to limit my time with the people who aren't supportive for now. Just remember we are all here for you to listen, vent to, cry or whine at. It's all good. And good for the soul. Many hugs and good wishes to you!

Re: Alone and Sacred
Hi Purple2013!
You are definitely not alone. You have all your Hystersisters here with you - and God is right beside you. While I think your friend may have it wrong about needing professional help, it may help to talk to someone who can help you sort it all out. Perhaps contact your minister and ask for a little of their time.
Praying for a clear diagnosis with no cancer and an uneventful recovery!
