Anyone have a prior uterine suspension?

I'm just wondering if it had caused any complications with your hyster recovery? When I went to see my doctor this Wednesday he mentioned that I have funky stitches due to my previous surgery. I was put on cipro and anaprox ds but I'm still having lots of pain.

I'm wondering just how much the suspension is effecting this surgery.
Trying to hang in there.

Re: Anyone have a prior uterine suspension?

I did! The same surgeon did both surgeries. As far as I know the uterine suspension (which was for anteflex or whatever, not prolapse) didn't have an effect on the hyst.

I did have pain for a while after the hyst. Hang in there!!

Thank you Anle. I do have to call them tomorrow and let them know if I'm still having pain, so we will see what they say. I'm kind of hoping for an ultrasound or scan to see what is going on.

Re: Anyone have a prior uterine suspension?

I had a suspension due to prolapse in 2004. The only complication came from so many adhesions from that surgery. That is why I had to have an abdominal incision with my hysterectomy. Due to all of the work to remove the adhesions on one side, I still have a lot of soreness on that side. Other than that, I'm doing good.

Thank you Doryfish! I think that is the problem with pain I am having with my right side. He said I had old adhesions from that surgery. He also mentioned adhesions on the bladder. I'm waiting for another call back from him. I am feeling better but still sore and very frustrated. We will see what he says this time.

My adhesions were mainly on the left side. My uterus had also adhered to my bladder. If I go downstairs, I step left leg first with right leg stepping down onto the same step. Coming up, I lead with the right leg and left leg stepping on same step. Takes me a little while, but my hips aren't twisting so it saves on soreness. Little tricks like that help. Remember what they say "You only have one chance to heal properly". Don't rush yourself. Be conscious of your body movements & what makes it flair up. Drink lots of water!
