Terrible anxiety after TLH

I had a TLH a week ago where I kept both ovaries. For the last few days I have been having terrible anxiety, heart palpitations and overwhelming hot flashes. Is this normal after a TLH? It feels like an anxiety attack (I am not prone to them - only had anxiety attack when I was on Lupron for endo).

Thanks

Re: Terrible anxiety after TLH

I don't think it is completely out of the ordinary, but I also don't think it is something you just have to live with either. Why not call the doctor and describe what is going on? It is possible your ovaries are shut down temporarily after the shock of the surgery and your doctor can help you get under control. That's no way to live! Hope you feel better ASAP!

Re: Terrible anxiety after TLH

I am wondering if you were given the nausea patch for your surgery. I ask because I had very similar side effects from the patch in the past. They are rare, but scopolamine can cause anxiety, racing heart, blurry vision, even paranoia. It made me miserable. IF that is the case, the good news is that it subsides after a few days. It is a good idea to contact your doctor though.

Re: Terrible anxiety after TLH

Thank you for the replies!

No I didn't take any thing for nausea - I've just been taking 800 mg Ibuprofen and the occasional Norco for the pain (mainly right after surgery). I had a hot flash that was so bad yesterday that I nearly passed out. The anxiety and palpitations are really scary though. I don't want to bother my doctor but maybe I will give them a call...
