Bulge at daVinci incision

I'm 2 weeks post op and last night I felt a lump or bulge, whatever you want to call it beneath an incision. The incision itself has healed nicely on the outside. The lump is about the size of a marble and is sort of painful because it's truly beneath the incision, not above, not next to it, but directly beneath it. I have a doctor's appt in a week and if it doesn't get worse I'll wait until then to get it checked out, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had this. I'm thinking pocket of infection, hernia, etc...... Thanks!

Re: Bulge at daVinci incision

Hi! You should call your doctor and ask if you should come in sooner. It's better to be safe than sorry. Good luck!

The incision I have near my belly button is kinda like that. It looks fine but still feels lumpy and swollen underneath. I'm only 8 days post op, but if I were two weeks I would give the doctor a call. Good luck!!

Re: Bulge at daVinci incision

Interested to hear what the doctor said. I have a bulge/lump directly above the belly button incision. The incision healed great. I noticed the bulge the day of my surgery and the nurse said it was normal. It has slowly shrunk in size as the weeks have progressed. My OB said it's from all of the sutures. It gets larger as the day progresses. No pain associated with it or anything. When I wake up in the AM, it's pretty much gone. I would imagine that if it were a hernia, I wouldn't have had it the first day of surgery. Nor would it be shrinking as the weeks progressed. Just curious to know if we're experiencing the same thing.

Re: Bulge at daVinci incision

OMG you ladies cover EVERYTHING! I also noticed a buldge near my incision. I notiticed it about the 4th day in the hospital, and because I was already frustrated being there that long, I contemplated saying something about to my doctor because I didn't want to be there any longer. In my drug indused haze I had convinced myself that it might me an infection due to my doctor leaving her surgical instruments inside my body. I am so ready for this recovery to be over. I am so thankfull for this site!
