Should I still feel this tired 6 weeks into hysterectomy and BSO recovery!

Hi,
I'm due my six weeks checkup this Wednesday. While overall I think my recovery is going well, tiredness is an issue when I stretch myself a little further, i.e. walk a little more, do a little more housework etc. I feel wiped the following day, is this normal?

Any advice would be great...

Thanks

Tomorrow will be 8 weeks since my surgery. I still get tired when I do not give my body enough rest or rest periods. Your insides are still healing and that takes a lot of energy. So no matter how well your feel, you still need to rest and let your body recoup.

I am 8 weeks post-op and I am tired when I clean the house or go grocery shopping. I have to sit for a while then start back. I feel like I just went out running. I am bent over, holding my stomach, and sweating. What is this!!! I say to myself. Afterward I have to take a pain pill and lay down.
My first week at work, was no good. The last day, I got sick and when I got home I was wiped, slept all day. Just tired.

Thank you so much Ladies for sharing. It really helps to know it's not just me! In all my research this part was the one I was least prepared for. It's exactly as you describe, you exert yourself more then your body can do (the hard part both my body & mind think I can do more!) and then I'm wiped! Think I've just got to reprogram my mind that this a 3-4 month recovery :-)

Yes, I think it would be a great idea to reprogram yourself. I am three months in after surgery and I'm still not 100%, When I was at six weeks I thought I would be released to go back to work since I had laparoscopic surgery but when I went in for my six weeks check up my doctor assured me that I needed eight weeks and she was very right. I needed to go back for the money but my body was not ready. Granted, I am 46, I was not prepared for the recovery. I have had two C-sections with my two children and this recovery was far worse.

Re: Should I still feel this tired 6 weeks into hysterectomy and BSO recovery!

Those who said "this is a marathon; not a sprint' knew exactly what they were talking about. I am almost 6 months out and although I don't get as tired as quickly, I can still tell when I've over done it and need to rest. Listening to your body and getting the rest when you need it is vital to your healing. Patience and allowing myself time for pampering are skills I had to learn through this process.

Best of luck to you all!
