8 weeks - where should I be??

I am 8 weeks post-op from TAH/BSO and am doing better but still have issues with pain around and below my incision. I do have some pain meds still available to me, but try not to take them because I feel like I should be getting off them by now. I had some initial complications, so it has put me behind the curve, but just wanted some input from anyone around this time frame to tell me what I should be feeling??
Thanks for this invaluable resource.

8 weeks - where should I be??

I think at 8 weeks I still had some pain like that too. I am at 3 months and yesterday did too much and felt very sore and tired last night. I got up one morning a few weeks ago and the thought of surgery or recovery did not even cross my mind for the whole day. I was so busy I didn't even notice my scar when I went to the bathroom. I have been pretty busy the last few days. Yesterday I went to get out of the car at the vet with the dog and he took off running and jerked the leash. I felt a pull and some pain. It went away, but it was that reminder that it is all still healing in there. It just takes time. My mood and motivation were both flat too, but now both have come back to better than before hyster. My family seems lazy now that I have all this energy! LOL

I tried to only take Motrin after the first 4 weeks and still needed them a week ago. I have taken some in the last week, but more because I was sore all over from using muscles I hadn't used in 3 months. I would call your Dr. if your pain is significant and doesn't go away. But I would also be patient with yourself until you hit the 12 week/3 month mark. It seems that is the turning point for a lot of sisters.

8 weeks - where should I be??

I am 7 weeks and although I am not really having pain, I do get very uncomfortable at times especially at night and I am also still VERY tired and feel as though I need a nap in the afternoon. I went back to work 1/2 days this past Monday and was thanking my lucky stars that Wed. was a day off because of the 4th. I spoke to a my friend's sister who told me that she didn't feel back to normal for a good six months after her TAH/BSO. I guess all we can do is rest when we can and gradually start increasing activity till we build up some stamina. If you are in enough pain that you feel you need pain meds though, I would call the doctor if I were you to go in for a check. Hope you feel better soon

8 weeks - where should I be??

I'm at 8 weeks and have no energy. Hearing Sandra say the 12 wk/ 3 month mark is a positive turning point in the energy department has given me hope! It's so beautiful out and my brain says "go do something energitic & fun" and my body says "nahhhhh, just sit your butt on the deck and watch the flowers grow woman!" LOL Sad to say, the flowers are blooming wonderfully as I watch them! LOL You could say I have really taken the time to "stop and smell the roses" lately. It's sooooo frustrating to have your body & brain fighting all the time, especially when the body keeps winning!

I had way more energy at 6 wks than I do now! A question I have been contemplating since my period started......"Why oh why wasn't I born a boy?????" I guess the grass is always greener somewhere else eh? LOL

Hugs to all
