My doctor says my fibroid is "flappy"

I called my gyn when I had some bleeding after a year of no periods. I am 50 and on tamoxifen after breast cancer 2 years ago. First thing that happened was my regular doc wasn't there so I got a younger male gyn who was brutal. He decided to do an endometrial biopsy right on the spot with no preparation. He told me it would be (I hate these words) "mildly uncomfortable." I can take a lot of pain, but I had to make him stop. He said something snippy about not wanting to "torture" me and left the room and never came back. 3 weeks later my regular doc did the procedure under conscious sedation after meds to soften my cervix. I am still angry at the first doc.

Anyway, my doctor said that she saw a large and "flappy" fibroid during her exam, and that plus the fact that tamoxifen causes increased risk of uterine cancer was what led to her to wanting to do the hysterectomy. I agreed, since the alternative seemed to be an eternal period (10 weeks and counting) or taking HRT which is bad because of the breast cancer.

Anyway, I'm not sure what a "flappy" fibroid is, but I think the surgery will be a good thing. One less cancer to worry about.

I don't understand a "flappy" fibroid either. I too am on tamoxifen and elected LAVH and removed ovaries and cervix. Have family history of cervical and other cancers and just didn't want to worry about more cancer for myself. Good luck to you.
