Wow!
I had LAVH last November. Prior to the surgery I had a transvaginal ultrasound. almost 50 fibriods were discovered! They were all removed laproscopically. Before the surgery I was a nervous wreck! After the surgery I was amazed! Prior to the surgery, I asked the doctor a zillion times for something for pain (I was sure I would need a morephine drip for days-I'm a huge wimp when it comes to pain) and he kept telling me that I wouldn't need anything stronger than Tylenol. He was right! He did leave orders with the nurses to give me something stronger if I needed it, but I didn't! What a relief!
I stayed over one night because I was sooooooooooooooooo incredibly weak and exhausted! Later on that night my packing was removed and the catheter came out. I was walking the halls of the castle by 11p.m. The next morning I went home. I slept most of the time for several days.
After 4 days of not being able to have the magical poop, I drank some Milk of Magnesia, and that did the trick! I've been going everyday ever since.
I've seen the doctor twice since the surgery, and he tells me I'm healing beautifully. I go to see him again on March 1st and hopefully he'll tell me I can go back to living life like before.
Oh, in case some of you ladies are concerned about your pets, I was able to bend over the next day to feed them and to wash their dishes. I couldn't change the litter box (that's what true friends are for), but I was so grateful for their company. Just don't let them jump on your tummy!
As far as help goes, I live alone but had several friends come over for about ten days. You will need the help-don't be afraid or embarrassed to ask!
My heating pad was my best friend.
I wish all of you ladies-in-waiting all the best during your surgery and recovery. Hopefully your recovery will be as uneventful as mine.
Hugs to you all!
