Good news about Big "O!"

One of the MANY things my doctor didn't discuss with me prior to surgery was sexual concerns and how not having a cervix, uterus, and Fallopian tubes might affect sex and an orgasm. At the end of week two I decided to try out my new "O" after reading the lack of intensity other women have after surgery and losing the uterus. I was just glad to be able to HAVE one even though there wasn't much to it. I have always had INTENSE orgasms and was a tad disappointed but like I said, was just glad to be able to have one. I am at week 6 and I'm so happy to say that they have gotten more and more intense (like they used to be) as the weeks have gone on. I'm going to have sex on Mon, which will be my 6 week mark. I'm a tad nervous but I really think it's going to be okay. We will take it slow. After surgery and reading about this it was a main concern of mine...so just know that MY experience has been good and it gets better and better as time has gone on.

Yes, this topic is largely skipped over by doctors so this is very reassuring to hear for those of us still in early recovery! Thanks so much for sharing!! Very happy for you!

Good news about Big "O!"

My Gyno has cleared me for 'outercourse'! I was terrified that nothing was going to feel the same after losing uterus, cervix and tubes. The first O was pleasant enough but a bit weak. It felt like something was missing up there. However, the next one was much stronger and lasted longer. It felt more like old times (what a relief!!!). Also, a lot of my nagging little sore spots disappeared and I felt much better. Not sure if it was a physical or psychological response. I only had to have the hysterectomy - no other repairs were required. That is probably why I received clearance quite soon after surgery. Even though I am a very open minded person (which is typical of many Australians) I never expected I would be describing my big O on an online support forum. However, I think it is really important that this particular aspect of recovery is openly discussed for the benefit of others that are still waiting anxiously for surgery or clearance to resume normal life.
