OK I'm starting to have a million questions

I have so many questions! I guess my first have to do with has anyone had an experience like mine. Here is my story (sorry this will be long, but I think all relevant):

I have two children. My first pregnancy was uneventful with the exception of some first trimester spotting, then my daughter went 10 days past due, they discovered my amniotic fluid was pretty much gone so they induced immediately. After 13 hours on pitocin (yes, 13 hours) I had almost no contractions (nope) and so because we were both having problems, they decided to do a c-section. Well, (not to scare anyone) my epidural failed during surgery, so I had general anestesia during which I had atony (meaning my uterus still wouldn't contract) but they worked on me for 45 minutes saving me from a hysterectomy right then and there but I lost a lot of blood.

Fast forward four years later, I had my second beautiful daughter, this epidural worked, got a tubal, which went well, except they took an extra hour to find my tubes b/c I have so much scar tissue. Then I got back to my room and had again severe bleeding which required drugs to stop.

Also, I never had any contractions on my own, even braxton hicks.

Fast forward 6 months, my period starts (I nursed for 20 months), and continues to come (my daughter will be 3 on 6/20) every 18-24 days for a minimum of 13 days. Sometimes it's really heavy (though nothing compared to most of you it sounds like) just always there! I've had hormones, and d&cs and ultrasounds, you name it. No fibriods, no anemia, no thickening, though the left side of my belly is bigger than the right. Apparently I'm perfectly normal, except I never stop bleeding! I'm just curious if anyone else has had a similar experience.

Sorry this was so long!

Mary

Similarities

Yes, I have had a very similar experience. It isn't the same in every detail but there are many similarities.

I carried my daughter to term, 40 weeks, and she hadn't even dropped yet. I also had really high pregnancy induced BP 200/180 (normal is 120/80). They tried to induce me using Pitocin...caused the worse contractions in the world. I didn't dilate more than 2cm and then they gave me an epidural bc I was in so much pain.

Would have married that anesthesiologists if I could have right then!

Since I didn't dilate and my bp was alarmingly high, they told me that they had to do an emergency c-section. They were going to do it while I was awake but I could feel them testing me. I guess the epidural wore off or something, not too sure what happened here.

They ended up pumping me full of all kinds of medicine to end pain, and help with the BP and ended up putting me into a "twilight" sleep which isn't quite as deep as general.

Fast forward about three weeks. Was nursing my daughter and had finished all of the bleeding that comes after having a baby.

My next period came the morning after my husband and I had sex for the first time. Not sure if the contractions from the big "O" made it start up or what. Whatever the case, the Aunt Flo's timing was horrible.

It didn't stop though. I was continuously bleeding, had mood swings that were beyond wacko. I would only spot for a hour and then in the next hour I would literally feel blood gushing from my body. I would flood everything in sight. Sheesh. Not good memories.

After about three months of this stuff, having to take care of a newborn, wacky hormones, you name it I was so mad I was in tears. I begged my doctor to do anything, anything to make all the bleeding stop.

She put me on Depo Provera and within 2 days the bleeding had stopped. Apparently this is really a rarity bc it usually takes three months before your periods stopped. I would spot occasionally but finally stopped bleeding completely shortly before my daughter turned two.

Osteoperosis is a major side effect of Depo. It also happens to run in my family in a big way. Plus even though the Depo stopped my periods completely, it still had alot of bad side effects that I had to deal with.

I have always had heavy periods. But they have not always been continual. I have always had killer cramps, diaherrea, throwing up..etc

I told this to my doctor who referred to another doctor who is going to perform my hyst. This doctor was sure based on the info I gave above that I more than likely have adenomysis.

I am so glad that I am going to be getting a hyst....no more bleeding, wacky PMS, none of it!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, sorry this was so LONG but our stories are similar in many ways and I hope that you don't mind me sharing with you.

Good Luck!
