Surgery went well--Finally home!

Hey ladies. Surgery went well. No problems with adhesions or scar tissue. There was a lot but they were able to get them all. Total hysterectomy. Not feeling any menopause signs yet. Had an epidural so I'm pretty comfortable. Has not been sleeping good but I thinks its due to the hospital bed. One thing I have had is really bad nausea. Every time I go from a laying down position to a sitting position I bet sick to my stomach.

Hugs

Re: Pre-Op Hysterectomy and scared (severe adhesions)

Still in the hospital. Surgery pain is bearable but my bowels have not woken up yet. At first everything was going great. I started to stay nausead so I ended up with another NG tube and a PCA. That was last Wednesday and nothing has changed. Had suppository after supposittory and sill botching. Two excuses look hood and they can see gas but I can't pass it. Horrible pain earlier today. Incision looks fabulous and is healing well. Been post op now 10days. So ready to go home.

Re: Pre-Op Hysterectomy and scared (severe adhesions)

I am so sorry you are dealing with this. I know how miserable you feel. My bowels didn't wake up right away either , but were finally awake after 3 days. I also had suppositories, drugs, and other things to try to kick start them. They finally gave me some combo thing the orthopedic floor nurses swore by, but I can't remember what it was. Something with bran, prune juice, and something else.

Hope they can get your bowels going again. . I really feel for you.

I, too, had a long hospital stay so I know how wonderful it can be to get home to your own bed and away from the chaos of the hospital!

As a new , be sure to get plenty of , don't forget to lots of water, and as you are able!
