Is this normal??

I am 2 weeks post-op and down 13 pounds? Is that normal? I have been eating fine, and been REAL lazy until today. I finally got moving. LOL But I'm losing weight so fast...not that I'm complaining. I'd love to lose about 40 more pounds. LOL But I thought it was normal to "gain" weight post-op.

Is this normal??

It seems that many women on this site mention weight loss, so I haven't been sweating mine and have been enjoying it. What I don't like is the sense that my muscles are wasting away, quite literally. That part really bugs me. I have lost about 8 pounds, down from about 144 prior to the surgery. I think what's happening is all the energy from what we're eating is converted directly into energy where we're healing. Papers my dr gave me indicate this is *not* a time to lose weight and so keep eating. I can't eat any more than I'm eating and drinking. And that's the other part. With all the drinking one does,in order to flush the system out, our bellies are feeling full.

Best wishes on your recovery!

Is this normal??

I'm 12 days post -op and lost 9 lbs. I needed to lose about 10lbs, but this is probably muscle loss. I'm already making plans for excercise for when I'm healed. Weights, yoga, walking.
I'm eating, but not as much quantity as normal. I'm also stuck upstairs, the food is downstairs and hubby is at work. I'm trying to avoid stairs after 3 trips up and down per day

Is this normal??

I dont know. I think it takes longer to lose muscle mass than just a few "down" days. My waist is about 2 inches smaller...and my size 14 jeans are baggy. I had to go into my 12's. I can even "squeeze" into my 10's. That is something I have not done for a year!

Is this normal??

well I wish I was as lucky as you all on here. I gained 15 lbs. after surgery. I am now starting to loose a little weight. When I was in the hospital I had the biggest craving for choclate and my mom snuck my in all kinds of junk food.

Is this normal??

I'm almost 3 wks post op and down 9 lbs. I don't know if its muscle mass or what but I'm using this as a good motivator to keep my eating habits healthy. I still have tons of weight to lose thanks to the depo shots and lupron I did for so long. I've noticed my appetite has decreased dramatically. I figure thats the reason for the weight loss.

Is this normal??

My weight loss isn't normal. I've lost 51lbs since March (TAH 12 weeks ago) and am now underweight. Iheard yesterday my bloods aren't normal. I have an urgent appointment with a different specialist tomorrow morning.
The thing is, it was blamed in the weeks before surgery on the 30 week sized fibroid squeezing my stomach. No excuses now. You'd have thought with CT scans etc they'd have seen all there is to see.
I guess I'm sharing a warning. If you're not sure, you have the right to get it checked out. We keep the MDs in business.
And yes, do as I say, not what I do. Wish me luck for tomorrow. I'm scared.

Is this normal??

Thank you for your post, Blinkle, and very best wishes on the outcome of the new tests you'll be undergoing. You're right: if things are out of the ordinary, then we definitely must ask our dr to help us figure out what's going on. Very, very best wishes on this. I wish you more than good luck -- I wish you well, and soon.
