ultrasound resulting in many new friends...

I am 36, have chronic endo since age 13, two kids, one terrific spouse and a bunch of alien beings in my abdomen. I feel like the woman who had that thing come out of her belly button. I have had three laps, the last one in Oct. of 03 where my "supposedly" specialist on endo....left me in the lurch. He didn't mention I had a tumor on the back of my uterus the size of Texas and had taken tourist photos as well. After many unhappy days of bad side effects from the surgery, being discharged with NO pain medication and a dog that won't stop jumping on my tummy....I found a new doctor. I love my new doctor. He is my friend. He is now telling me I have options...what are those?...I can go on the deproprovera shot, the pill, subject my belly button to, yet another, peircing without decoration or a hysterectomy. I am torn. I am not a fan of hormones. I am scared of side effects but I have my kids...I am done. I was blessed to have them. My tubes were tied...so I have been there already. I want to be rid of this burden but am unsure of the effects it will have on my marriage, my job and my state of mind. I have heard that women have more desire after....I haven't had it in years....my fault. (that would be why my husband is a saint) This alone would be a benefit...to have sex without pain...a concept I know nothing about......So I guess I am wondering if there are other alien carriers out there and if you have any advice on my game plan?!

HI cupojoe to Hystersisters

There are several options you could explore to help give you some much needed relief from your endo pain.

Have you ever consulted with an Endo Specialist? Many studies show that woman who undergo surgical excision of the Endo gain the best long-term relief.

Here is an interesting article about using progesterone to help with endo.

Here is a list of other medications that are also useds to treat endo.

I also wanted to share that I had my hysterectomy for endo, and like you I was very excited to be able to enjoy my husbands company with out the pain. However for many women including myself they end up with a lack of sexual desire. Usually due to the fact that the ovaries are removed when a woman has endo.

My missing libido has been replaced for me by using hormones. If you are not a big fan of hormones then I would definently recommend that you explore other options.

Here are some articles that may be helpful in giving you an idea of the alternatives and options available for dealing with endo.

I hope your new doctor is very successful in helping you find a treatment plan.

Best wishes

Please do read the links that Troubled Tabby gave you. Excision is the best optin for most, even if you get a hyts it is needed. A hyst will not cure endo, trust me I know 1st hand. Depo will only work while on it is it a bandaid at best.
