Got My Staples Removed Today

I got my staples removed today and my incision is healing nicely. So far, recovery has been going well, so I was hoping he was going to let me go back to work in two weeks. My post-op visit is in 3 weeks, so maybe I will be able to go back to work on week 4.

Re: Got My Staples Removed Today

Oh I remember getting my staples out I'm glad yours went well! Several of mine had bent and gotten irritated so removing them was extremely painful! Rest up and don't rush things, you have alot of healing to do. I just went back to work at 6 weeks and it's been a very difficult 3 days. Hope things continue to go well for you!

Re: Got My Staples Removed Today

I am having no problems what-so-ever but since I have the weeks I really feel that I should take the full eight then...I think it'll make it even harder to go back being off that long then...I think I am much older than most post-ers and I should take 6 -maybe more- and then I think...I did so well no complications, no problems -then...I see women w/ problems later down the line post-op....GOSH...don't know what to do. Do all those later problems pop up after going back too soon????

Mmv22249- if you can take a full 8 weeks I would do it. I am 51 and am choosing to take a full 8 weeks off even though I feel great now at 3 weeks. I want to do everything I possibly can to make sure I heal well so that when I do go back to work I will be close to 100% from the start.

I say if you have 8 weeks take them.

Re: Got My Staples Removed Today

Actually, I have 20 weeks. Just don't want to use 'em all. At 61, was looking toward retiring someday....although the weight "lifting" limitations will affect not my regular job-teaching but my backup retirement "hobby"...organizing estate sales. Not being able to pull/haul/tote/lift and move pianos may preclude involvement in that lucrative endeavor!
