Pains under ribcage when breathing

Hi ladies,
I'm two weeks a princess today and have these pretty sharp pains under my ribcage on both sides (but it's worse on the right) when I breathe. At occasional moments there's some zinging pain on the right a little lower too. I otherwise feel fine (I know that sounds weird, but I otherwise feel strong and good) and I have no fever and there's no fluid in my lungs or anything. Has anyone else had this happen? Thanks.

I had that happen until about 5 weeks post-op.

My doc said it was perfectly normal to have those pains. Thankfully, as you heal, it will go away.

When in doubt, ask your doc, just in case!

I am glad to hear you are feeling good other than the pain in your chest. I however had the same thing happen to me. I was rushed to the emergency room because the pain got so bad that I could not breath. Due to a rare clotting disorder that I have the DR sent me for a cat scan to ensure that it was not a blood clot, the results came back and I was informed that I had a fluid on my lungs, which they assured me was normal after surgery. It is better to take precautions and call your DR and make sure everything is ok. I wish you the best in your recovery.

Pains under ribcage when breathing

I have an occassional pain on the left side which feels a bit like a stitch.
I mentioned it to the doctor and she said that there was a bit more surgery done on that side -- they removed the damaged ovary -- so it was normal.

I feel it more when I've been on my feet for a while so I use it as a signal to take a break.

Keep well,

Omigosh! They're testing me at 3:00 to rule out a pulmonary embolism! I'm SO scared!!! Please say a prayer for me that they don't find anything and that it's just some awful gas or muscle spasm!

Fro-yo

Check in as soon as you're back & let us know how you are.

Meanwhile, you'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

ribcage pain

I just had my surgery on 3/11.
It was done Vag. but left ovaries. My biggest complaint has been my jelly belly and rib cage pain. I'm a hairdresser so I talk to a lot of women and I have come to the conclusion that it is the gas given to me during surgery. I would like to know if anyone who had a spinal block instead of gas has the same problem.
