Really Nervous

Hi, I just signed up today. This site was recommended to me by my medical insurance "nurse coordinator" Cindy...she said it was a great site because it was manned by others going through the same thing as i am. I've never been in the hospital overnite for any reason...never even had my tonsils out. So I'm doubly nervous about having Major Surgery& having to be the "one in the bed" instead of the visitor/helper. I'm having surgery on tue. Feb. 5th...my second surgery date actually. I was already to go for the 15th of Jan. when my med. ins. informed that the Dr. only does surgery at a non-network hospital & the difference would be I pay 30% after $300 as opposed to 10% after $200 for an in-network hospital! they tell me this after 6 mo. of tests with a Dr. they referred me to! After a million phone calls & several tears i finally got a reccomnedation from my Boss... the dr. she sent me to was a Godsend! But I'm having trouble sleeping, i'm tired all the time because the fibroids are feeding off my blood supply, i've been sick with the flu twice in the last 8 weeks & i just want it all to be over with so i don't have to worry anymore! Sorry to whine, please tell me it will all be better soon!!!

At 5 weeks 3 days post op I am feeling wonderful and looking forward to my new found health and happiness! The waiting is absolutely the hardest part of all of this and that is almost over for you now. Hi Photobug, and welcome! I'm glad you found this site. I agree with McWeaver's advise about reading as many posts here as you can. I've had my surgery postponed too (actually, I postponed it) and so have had time to learn a lot from the other hystersisters - what to bring, what to expect, ideas for faster recovery. So, read on - Pre-Op and Post-Op and anything else that sounds interesting. Check out the pull-downs on the home page too. As you can probably tell, it's okay to ask questions and to ask for support. There are plenty of hugs to share. I wish you well. Glad to hear you found a dr you feel good about. There are sure a lot of women here who tell us that waiting is the worst part.

Hi photobug, yes !!! the waiting is indeed the worst part. It will be all better soon and while you are waiting for your surgery date ,you can be here and receive support from ladies who know exactly how you are feeling. Sometimes when you are stressed the immune system can become a little depleted and that is why you seem to be sick all the time. But it will be all over soon and you can concentrate on healing. You take care and remember we are here for you
