Low grade temp and high BP

I'm 1 week post op and have had a low grade temp and headache every day since surgery. Last night my blood pressure was much higher than normal. I'm calling the DR this A.M., was just wondering if anyone else had suffered these problems.

Are you continuing to do your breathing exercises, either with the little apparatus supplied in the hosp., or just doing deep breathing several times a day. I learned from personal experience in hosp. that it can make a big difference in your temp. Not sure about BP, but that might be affected as well.

Also, my regular doc warned me before surgery that my BP would be up post-op from the pain meds, trauma to my body, etc. It was, as he predicted, but I continued the breathing, began limited walking right away, and now that I am off pain meds, the BP is back to pre-surg levels.

For sure check with your doc, but you could also try the breathing, and a little bit of very careful walking (nothing long distance at one week post-op, just a little up and down the hall)

I had a low grade temp for about 10 days post op. Doc said it is caused from body absorbling the old blood from surgery and acceptance of all the stitches inside. I would only worry if it got over 100.9 .. Mine was over 100 a few times and Doc said not to worry unless it was over 100.9 as that would be sign of infection. Best of luck to you!
