TVH: Concerned about vaginal hysterectomy - only had 2 Caesarian sections?

I am scheduled for vaginal surgery on Monday and have been reading some info that this is not recommended if you have not had natural child birth? Please share why or what have you learnt it experienced to put my mind at ease OR prepare me?

I had a DaVinci hysterectomy and the entire uterus had to be removed in one piece because of cancer. Before surgery, they told me they would try to do it vaginally but that since I'd never given birth they might have to switch to open instead.

But they didn't have a problem, everything fit through the vagina and I did not have any vaginal pain afterwards. I suppose we all come in different sizes and stretchiness in there.

Hi Jen, you should definitely talk with your dr. So you are more comfortable going into the surgery. I had a c section and 3 vag births. I was told that it may be easier to remove uterus vaginally if you've given vag delivery. In my case the uterus was larger than they thought due to scar tissue from c section imparing there premeasuring. It had to be cut in half to remove vaginally which is not what they want to do. They Prefer to remove a whole organ. Hope this info helps. Talk to your Dr. She/he can give you their reasoning.
