Anxiety and Insomnia

Morning all,

I am almost four weeks post op and have been healing fairly well.

However, I have noticed two things that cause me concern. I have had diagnosed anxiety for about 10 years and take medication for it. Since my surgery my anxiety seems to have increased. Usually in the late afternoon and before bed I get a general uneasy feeling that makes me uncomfortable...any thoughts?

Second, I am having some difficulty getting to sleep...unless I take a sleep aid etc. Is anyone else experiencing this found a trick to getting to sleep?

Happy healing.

Chris

Re: Anxiety and Insomnia

Both anxiety and sleep issues are menopause symptoms so it could be that.

Have you changed the time you are taking your anxiety medication? If so that could be why you are experiancing anxiety during the day. Or if you had to be off it prior to surgery you may still not be up to a theraputic level again.

Are you napping during the day? Maybe this is interfering with getting to sleep. I had sleep issues prior to surgery and now that I am in meopause they are even worse - Ambien is my friend. Even though I am bushed I have issues staying alseep. Keep your sleeping area cool, do not use it for anything but sleep (no TV watching, reading, ect), if you can not sleep get up and do something for a while and try again).

You are still healing so give it some time and talk with your doctor if any of the issues you having become too bothersome.
