What are the signs of infection?

Okay, I'm the first to admit that I'm somewhat of a "worry-wart", but I must ask. What are the signs of an infection? I had a LAVH/BSO on Aug. 4 and I've had a wonderful recovery, been feeling pretty much great since day two. I took a bath yesterday and water got "inside" my vagina and when I got out of the bath and was drying off, water started dripping out and it had a funky smell to it. Other than that happening, I've been fine...no discharge, no spotting, no pain, no fever, etc. But that smell now has me worried -- could I have an infection? I go back to my doc today for my 4 week check and I'm scared he's gonna tell me I've got an infection.

Any input?????

What are the signs of infection?

Diffently mention it to your dr., but I think you should be fine since their are no other syptoms. But then again I am no Dr. so I could be totally wrong.
Good luck and I hope everything goes good at the dr's. I'll cross my fingers for you that there is no infection!!

I agree -- mention it to the doc. Everything's probably fine, but if you do have an infection, it can be easily treated.

I also had some "interesting" smells coming from my incision area as I was healing, but there was never any infection, so smell doesn't always mean there's something wrong.

What are the signs of infection?

I was told when I had my LAVH that I wasn't allowed to take a bath until my 6th week. What you probably smelled was just from stitches healing inside and then with water...didn't make for a pleasant aroma. If you have no pain, itching or discharge I wouldn't worry about it.....maybe stick to showering for another 2 weeks or so???

What are the signs of infection?

My Dr. told me to take a bath after my two week checkup because it would help wash away some of the blood that is a part of the healing process. I have been spotting since that checkup but was told it was normal. It's mostly brownish color with alittle watery red blood too. I was worried but after Dr. examined me tried to forget about it. I'm ready for it to stop, but otherwise feel great. I have been able to go to the store or dinner with my DH every day for the past 4 days. It's so nice to leave the house. When I return I take a long nap. I think the walking is making me alot stronger...Good luck to you....I had LAVH with posterior repair.
