3 months out and miserable

I am now 3 months post-op and still feel totally drained all the time. I used to be able to teach all day, sing and dance with the kids, and then do a complete workout in the evening. Not anymore. I can barely move when I get home. And, my joints are hurting and my muscles are achy all the time. I'm so depressed and want the old me back. I am 54, so I'm not young and I don't want to lose any more "younger" time in my life. I have to keep reminding myself that this surgery was for the best, but I've gained 10 pounds and have no energy to try and lose it back. Oh well.

Re: 3 months out and miserable

I am just a little over 1 year TVH BSO AP Repair and TOT sling. If you haven't read it anywhere and no one has told you, it really is true what they say that it can take 6 months to a year to fully heal from a hysterectomy. I know that's not what you want to hear (it certainly wasn't what I wanted to hear), but I can tell you that sometime in December of last year a light bulb went on and all of a sudden I realized I felt better. I've had other health issues to deal with and I know others have recuperated faster, but my doctor told me to expect it to take 6 months o a year.

I know it's discouraging, but wanted you to know I've been there done that and it does get better!

HUGS!

Re: 3 months out and miserable

3 months is no time for major surgery. I know 3 people of various ages who have had a Hyst 2 of them and my mum is 1 of them has emergency surgery with everything gone about 25 years ago and the 3 person is now 38 had her op 3 years ago with ovaries left obviously 2 went through a medical menopause but they have all said to feel really better or at least near normal took a year. Even now my mum said she gets a pulling if she over does it. It's a big op. I am 40. It was not something I planned but expected it may happen just cause it happened to my mum. But for different reasons. Maybe try to find new things that you can do. Your far from old but your not giving yourself time. It's major surgery you have had you have had a organ removed.
