3 weeks post hysterectomy and bleeding

Hello.I'm three weeks out and today I felt a gush.like when you're having a period. And sure enough, I'm bleeding. Not spotting. If it was a period I would definitely be using a tampon right now! I called my Dr. But they're not concerned and said its normal. If its accompanied by pain and fever go in right away. Otherwise call them if it doesn't stop after a week. Should I be concerned?

I recall the doctor saying if I filled a pad to call and I think he meant a maxi pad and not a liner. I did fill liner pads, but it subsided to spotting and then went away after a day or two, and I think it was about week 3. (I passed a clot that week.)

Ultimately, if you are concerned and not having peace over a phone answer, then get an appointment.

Hey TPear! I'm 12 days post-op and have spotted every day. But the more I do, the heavier it gets! My doc said if I start filling a pad in an hour to call or go to Urgent care/ER. Definitely call your doctor if you're concerned ... that's what they're there for! Blessings and I hope that you have a Happy Thanksgiving!

During my release from the hopital the discharge nurse who was giving my DH the after care instructions gave us the heads up ( she had ben through the same op) that when your stiches start to loosen and dissolve that you can have a gush of blood and light bleeding as long as i wasnt soaking a pad an hour or fever with extreme pain it was normal

Hello! The same thing happened to me today and I was three weeks post op yesterday. It was a gush, not spotting. Then I felt really dizzy...but that has subsided a little. From what I've read, this seems to be common at about 3 weeks.

Mine has pretty much quit already.hopefully yours will too!
