TVH and Bladder surgery Dec. 4

Hi, I am new to the board. I am scheduled to have a TVH with anterior repair, cystocele and bladder sling. I will have a spinal, so I will not be totaly out. My Dr. wants me to be alert in case he needs me to bear down to see if he has the sling in the correct position. Christmas will be 20 days after my surgery. Should I be getting around pretty good by then? I am expecting the worst as far as pain afterwards. I have heard the horror stories.

TVH and Bladder surgery Dec. 4

Hi and welcome! At three weeks post op you'll still have to be pretty careful but you should be able to enjoy Christmas. I hope that you don't have the awful pain - many don't. I had an abdominal incision so I can't tell you about a vaginal , but with pain med I made it through. Sometimes we hear more of the bad stories than the good ones. I'll be for you to be one of the good ones. Best wishes, I'll be thinking of you on Wednesday & praying that all goes well for you.

TVH and Bladder surgery Dec. 4

I am 14 days post-op today from a TVH and A&P repairs. I am getting around ok around the house. I don't need to take naps but I am weary by the end of the day. My tummy still feels tender and swollen but it doesn't hurt enough for pain meds. I haven't used anything but Motrin since the 3rd or 4th day post op. Except for two night ago I just really hurt and really needed a good nights sleep (my pain was mostly from my rectocele and perhaps overdoing things a little over Thanksgiving) I did take 2 Vicodin and for the first time since my morphine pump was turned off I felt no pain at all. However, I rather feel a little uncomfortable during the day than be groggy or worse be constipated from narcotic pain meds.

You should be feeling better by Christmas, just take it slow and easy and no lifting.

Best Wishes,
Denise
