How Many Days?

I'm just wondering how many days can I expect to be in the Hospital? Ooops! I mean the castle. When I had the Lap/D&C it was out-patient and I was so not ready to go . I barfed the whole car trip home. I'm having TAH and removal of Endo.

I'm scheduled to go in for a TAH on June 1st at 8am and my Dr. told me it would be about a 3 day hospital stay. So, including the surgery, I'm guessing 4 days total. I've heard that if you don't feel ready to leave when the Dr. says you can, then don't be afraid to speak up and say so. You know your body and feelings better than your Doc. There's a HUGE poll on the post-op board about hospital stays. If you look through the older messages or use the search engine, you will find it. It varies from state to state, insurance carrier to insurance carrier, and doctor to doctor.

Ask your doctor what s/he usually requires for a TAH so you can get a general idea. I had TAH/BSO and was in for four nights. It was fine...not too long, not too short.

I had my surgery on Friday and was home on Saturday. I think it depends on your being medically ready to come home. My doctor told me as long as my blood pressure, temp and urniating on my own were going well I could go home. I wish you the best with your recovery.
