Does everyone have bowel prep and a catheter?

I had bowel prep and a catheter. Bowel prep was one bottle of magnesium citrate taken at home the afternoon before surgery. It was very unremarklable compared to bowel prep for a colonscopy, which I have done twice. Bowel prep was over in about 3 hours.

My catheter went in after I was "out," too. As Scorprio said, "I couldn't feel it at all while it was in, and it didn't hurt when they removed it. It was quick like pulling off a band-aid." Could not pee the first time I tried afterward, but succeeded shortly therafter and have had no trouble since.

No bowel prep here, told there is no need for it.

I am sure I will have a catheter though. I think those are pretty routine around here.

Bowel prep was a suppository the night before and the catheter came out first thing the next morning. I didn't even have it in for 24hrs and believe me, you'll be glad to have it for the first day.
