Travelling after sugery??

I had a TAH/BSO & asked my Dr. about flying for a 12 hour flight at about 8 weeks post op. she said to go for it! I will be 6 weeks this week & based on how I feel right now, I would say it would be ok and I dont think its a bad idea at all, b/c we all have to "get on with life" at some point and provided you heal accordingly, I think you'll not only be ready for it but you will be soooo ready to do something fun and normal!!! As for the dress, I would wait a few weeks post op, just b/c some of us have lost wt., while others have gained. As for me I gained about 5 lbs but now I am clear to start back to the fitness club and I am sooo determined to get those 5 lbs and more off !
Best wishes on your upcoming surgery and keep us posted when you feel up to it!!!

Travelling after sugery??

Hi Natalie;

its hard to say, I would say you might have a 60% chance of not going, sorry to dissapoint you but from reading posts from some of my other sisters that has had what you are having, the A&P repair requires extra time for recovery,

I do pray that your surgery and recovery is a smooth one, but I would stick close to home unless you were feeling really well and your doctor said it was ok.....

Travelling after sugery??

I will be in big trouble if I don't go to the wedding (my best friends son is getting married). As far as trying to find a dress, I have gained a lot of weight (for me) these past 4 months and I can't afford to be one of the girls that gains more weight after a hysterectomy. I thought for sure it would be a lose weight surgery and I am getting bummed out by reading a lot of the posts that say you gain weight. I don't fit into my fat jeans right now!!!. What will I do??

Thank you all that have answered and given me good wishes. I truly appreciate your encouraging words. I will keep you posted on what happens these next two weeks.
Sending hugs,
Natalie

Travelling after sugery??

I think you will be able to do it, but you will not have the energy as you used to. I am at week 7 and still get easilt fatigued. As for dresses, maybe a dress with a high waistline - called Empire style- will be very good choice, in case your belly is still puffy.
Don't worry about it, enjoy life and rest when you can.
