Harder to reach the big "O"

I am now 9 weeks out from TAH (kept ovaries) and seem to be a little less sensative down below than I was previously. I have also noticed that I am not quite as eager to be the one to initiate sex where before I felt like it often, only had trouble due to excessive bleeding, etc. Is this normal after a hysterectomy or am I lacking in something? Any suggestions!!

Re: Harder to reach the big "O"

Hi, you probably just need more time to heal and recuperate. When the body is healing is doesn't put sex high on the priority list of places to spend energy

Re: Harder to reach the big "O"

There is also a possibility that your ovaries have not woken up completely and it might take a bit. As hope09 said you are still recovering and depending on your body it can take 4 weeks and it can take 10....Just be patient. If this is bothering you a lot your doctor can check your hormone levels ... she might have more suggestions. Hang in there!

Re: Harder to reach the big "O"

my surgery was the same week as yours and we are going through the same thing. It takes me longer to become excited, and I really don't have the drive I used to.

I still get quite tired and when in bed, I just want to sleep. My DH has been great and we have been together 1-2 times a week since I got the "go ahead". I am still uncomforable, and I hope once that goes away, I will feel more excited about having sex.

Re: Harder to reach the big "O"

Ladies, have patience!

You are only 8 weeks out. Initial healing is 6-8 weeks & total healing is 6-12 months.

It was a long while before I could participate fully in our sexual relationship in my old manner but I can assure you that 12 months on everything is in full working order :-)

Re: Harder to reach the big "O"

Thanks sisters for all your words of comfort. Sometimes I forget that I am still recovering to a degree and that not everything is still not going to be 100% straight away. I'm sure with time things will improve, but if not I will take a trip to the doc and make sure my hormone levels are ok. Thanks again for all of your kind replies. I hope you are all feeling well. Many thanks.

Re: Harder to reach the big "O"

I'm very sensitive down below too. It hurts when 'he' just half way in. I"m lucky that my hubby is very supportive. He told me we can wait another 2weeks or month so. I'm still affraid that would hurt even a month after. Good luck sissy..
