Nedbear So sorry that this has been such a hard road for you! I've recently joined and am reading as much as I can as I make my decision in my path-and it amazes me how many people make the decision for us... drs, insurance, spouses and relatives. Hang in there- you're in my prayers!

Re: Endometrial Hyperplasia tx not working

Hi, I just joined hyster sisters. A friend recently told me about the site. I had a TAHBSO in May 2008. I too am childless not by choice and went through what you are going through. I was 35 yrs old five days before I had my hysterectomy. I had endometrial hyperplasia without atypia but it kept growing back...I was on high doses of estrogen for six months and mirena for 3 months before the doctor agreed to let me have surgery. I had a D&C 3 month in to the estrogen. Two weeks after that I went back to the doctor because the bleeding was already so bad again I couldn't stand up without it running down my legs (changing pads every hour or so). When I got to the doctor they did an exam and saw a fibroid tumor hanging out of my cervix about the diameter of a pencil and about seven inches long. That had grown in two weeks. When I finally had my hysterectomy I woke up from the surgery already feeling a bit better. Although knowing I can never have biological children has been hard I have learned that there are far worse things and that my health is so much better. Sometimes when we are young the doctors just want us to be so sick of it before they will take that final step to help us.

Re: Endometrial Hyperplasia tx not working

Hi ladies

My apologies for dropping off the planet - life has been a little overwhelming of late and I tend to hide myself from the world when things get too hard!

So, I got my results from the D&C and hysteroscopy and it's all wonderfully good news. The hyperplasia is all gone! They found a polyp which has been removed and that is that. I can start to ween off the Provera and the gyn-onc doesn't want to see me again.

Where to from here? I see a Gynae who specialises in PCOS on the 28th of July and we'll see what happens after that. Basically, we need to make me have a regular period, one way or another, so I don't get this build up of endometrium again (I kinda liked not having a period - so that's gunna suck! lol).

I will keep you updated on how things go, but for now - goods news.

Sending chocolate your way. xx

Re: Endometrial Hyperplasia tx not working

I'm off to see my "new" gynae today. I don't know what to expect and it's making me pretty nervous. A plan to move forward, I suppose. But, my concerns are being a guinea pig again and having to go through so much more to "balance me out". I'm dreading it, but I know I need to do something - I don't want to go on the hyperplasia roller coaster ride again! Ahhh to be a man instead.

Re: Endometrial Hyperplasia tx not working

Well, my new gynae was frank and to the point. She left me with no grey lines and painted a very black and white picture of my future. I'm feeling a little like I've been slapped in the face - but at least I know exactly where I stand.

I'm off to have blood work done (23 different tests to be exact!), and then I will see her in about 6 weeks time and we'll make a plan from there. Apparently one that involves just a few tries with medications and then if that fails, a hysterectomy. No mucking about! I may be hanging around here for a little longer than I expected (in recent weeks, at least).

Re: Endometrial Hyperplasia tx not working

Awwww, Ned Bear, I know you were hoping that finally your revolving door at the gynecologist was over, but at least they have a plan. It may not be much, but it is more than we get sometimes. In my case, my history and ability to withstand the meds (or should I say the high risk if I try) has pretty much determined that I must have a hysterectomy. I am scared that this is going to change me emotionally and physically to the point that what I have now, I won't have after.....and so I keep coming here to find answers, or at least feel like I am completely ok with the idea. I wish you the best!

Re: Endometrial Hyperplasia tx not working

Thanks Wobblebot. Yes, it certainly feels like I'm stuck on the gynae carousel! A plan is good and always makes me feel better and at least this Dr is willing to discuss a hysterectomy.

I wish you all the best too - I think we all come to this site looking for answers and we all walk away changed either emotionally, physically or both. This is big stuff and going through it cannot leave you as the same person. But maybe it can leave you as a healthier, stronger and happier one Maybe? lol
