Menstrual-like pain

HI ladies,

I am 2 weeks post op and this is the time I would normally be on my cycle. I have not bled or spotted at all since surgery. My ovaries and uterus were removed abdominally. I am feeling some mentrual-like cramps, like I am bleeding inside near where my right ovary was. Is this normal?

Thanks!

Menstrual-like pain

Why would you think you are bleeding? That cramping feeling could be several things. Your surgeon knows your body best, so it wouldn't hurt to run this past him/her...............they expect questions.

In my situation, my bowels moved into the space my uterus used to occupy. It is weird, because whenever I have a little bowel cramping, it registers like menstrual cramps, because of where I am feeling it. How is your bowel situation?

I didn't have any spotting or bleeding.....vaginally.....after my abdominal hyst, either. Some ladies don't. And, seems like many Sisters here report right side abdominal pain, too.

Nevertheless......if this persists, or worsens, I would definitely ask the surgeon. Take care............s.....Deb

also have cramping

I also have cramping and pain on my lower right side. I asked my doctor and he said that only hollow organs can cause cramping but offered no other explanation. I'm at 3 months and the cramping is subsiding and I expect it to go away in time.

good luck !

Menstrual-like pain

Wow, that's weird...you're describing kinda what I'm feeling....cramping where my right ovary used to be...Except, I hadn't had a regular cycle for quite a while so I couldn't say about that part. I'm wondering if it has anything to do with my internal stitches dissolving. Anyone know? Thanks!

Menstrual-like pain

Willis,
I had that feeling for several months post op. I thought I was nuts, but read quite a few posts here where women were experiencing the same thing. Here's a thread about it When will my body stop cycling???

Of course, it never hurts to give the doctor a call and talk with him/her about how you're feeling. It's best to be sure that nothing else is going on.

Menstrual-like pain

I completely understand what you're feeling. I have had bleeding (very pink no red) since my surgery and was not really worrying too much (thanks to my fellow hystersisters), but on Wednesday, I began bleeding as if I were on my period... oddly enough, that was my scheduled time to start. I called the Dr and he wanted to see me immediately. He said that I was 3/4 healed inside and there was one spot (farthest inside) that was beginning to bleed again. He put some medicine on it and then gave me a Premerin Vaginal Cream to use before bedtime. Now the bleeding has slowed but not stopped. I even had to send my mom after more supplies because my husband was too embarrassed. (poor guy). He said that is was normal. He told me the same thing about my right side pain that the other Dr told Bonjour. He also said that because he had to reconstruct most of my colon and intestines I could expect some blood in my bowel, but nothing there at this time.

I suggest to call the Dr if you are worried... I have called mine about 4 times in the last 2 1/2 weeks... luckily he is a VERY patient man.
