Swimming after LAVH???

I know I need to ask my dr this, but what is the reason for no swimming for 6 weeks after an lavh?

I am kind of bummed about this as we just bought the kids a swimming pool, but it is a big one that I would need to be in there with them.

I would say it has a great deal to do with the possibility of getting staph infections and the like in your incisions and stuff. You want to keep yourself from getting any infections in your incision sites.

Some Drs recommend only showers with no baths for 2 weeks to as long as 6 weeks after surgery. Ask your Dr what he recommends. The type of surgery he performs my determine your recouperation activities. I'd just put my feet in the pool and sit in the shade, why chance an internal or external infection. If you need someone in the pool ask a friend or family member as they are priceless! If you are going to be on HRT you will be very sun sensitive! So, stay under the shade of an umbrella.
Be save than sorry and ask your Dr.

I was cleared to swim 2 weeks after my LAVH, wonder why? I took advantage & hung out at the pool whenever I could. I had no problems with the swimming.

Germs and bacteria in incisions is the reason. Some people heal quickly, some take longer.

It is best to just be patient so nothing happens and sets people back in healing. Most people are in a hurry. I took my time to heal and not overdo.

Some doctors even rush it. Not sure why.

I have had several serious health problems and I have learned healing comes with time and patience.
