Home from the castle

Hi all. Just wanted to let you know I got home from the castle
last night. Surgery was Monday and everything went real well.

When came in to check me yesterday morning, he asked how I was doing and I told him fine and I'm ready to go home. He said he'd have them remove the cath and IV and see how I got along and he'd be back to check on me last night. That was all the encouragement I needed. I went and took a shower and got dressed and walked several times. Just a little at a time, drank a lot of water and rested.

Will post more later, but wanted you to know I'm home. Thanks again for all the words of encouragement, prayers and thoughts. This site is WONDERFUL.

Congratulations and welcome to the other side. Sounds like all went really well, thats what we like to hear. Now make sure you rest plenty and watch out for PP ever lurking and ready to pounce.
Now back to bed and enjoy the pampering. Hugs Vicki

Re: Home from the Castle

I'm thankful to share that my surgery was done at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, 2/11, and I got home last night as well!

I felt very prepared, no surprises about the events of the day except that during surgery, the doctor had to do a vertical cut instead of bikini cut due to the size of my uterus and 3 fibroids. My ovaries and other organs were fine, kept ovaries - I am 43.

The pain was much more manageable than I expected, thanks to morphine the first day and I was up walking by 9 a.m. on Tuesday. The thought of getting up was much worse than doing it - as soon as I was up, I had help with a sponge bath, and felt pretty good.

Last night at home, I had a full 6 hour of uninterrupted sleep, which was fantastic. The pain got bad since it was past time for meds, but I'm still feeling surprisingly better than I anticipated.

So glad to be back home where I can get my own medication, have my aunt and uncle here helping with me and my 5 year old DD for the next week. My mom and stepfather will be here the second week from out of state.

Off for a morning nap, relieved and looking forward to more interaction here. Thanks again for this source of support!
