Taking a bath - any ideas?

I had my op on 10th December, but so far have only been able to take a shower. I have a small rectangular bath and cannot see how I can lower and raise myself from it without straining myself. I tried a few days ago and had to give up as I felt it pulling my tummy. Can anyone give me any ideas how you lower and raise yourself without your tummy muscles?

Happy New Year to you all

Percyvera.

Taking a bath - any ideas?

I would ask the doctor before I sat in a tub, I think you may have to wait a few weeks before you can soak.

I agree. I was cleared to take a bath at 7 weeks pre-op, but not before. Check with your Dr. before taking a bath. You don't want to doanything that will in any way harm you and lengthen your recovery time.

Good Luck,
Barri

If you can't safely get in and out of the tub, it would be a good idea to wait even if your doctor said you could soak. My doctor said nothing but showers for six weeks.

My dr said 4 weeks, but I waited 5. I guess if you get the water up where you were sewn inside it can dissolve the internal stitches to quickly. I would wait to talk to your dr

Thank you for all your replies. My doctors said nothing about bathing so your advice was very useful. I shall not attempt it before my 6 week check up.

Best wishes
