Please help:swelling and pain after sex
9 weeks Post Op: TVH
First, I treated a yeast infection Thursday night with 1 day Monisat (starting to think it wasn’t a yeast infection).
Last night (Saturday night) DH and I had sex (with condom) and there was no pain at all during but my belly swelled up and was very crampy right after with just little spotting. The first 2x’s DH and I had sex was not as bad, just little swollen and little achy and no bleeding.
Sorry if this will be TMI, but last night it almost felt like a lot of gas. I tried to walk it off and that helped a little, then I had diarrhea shortly after passing some gas. The swelling came down a bit.
This morning I’m still swollen and achy inside (not as bad as last night) but no bleeding. Has anyone felt really achy and swollen the next day?
I’m feeling really down and very sad right now, I think a made the wrong choice with having this surgery. Ok now I feel like I’m gonna go cry.

Please help:swelling and pain after sex
Having gas is a whole new experience once the bowels shift a bit, isn't it? Every time I have it, it's like a jolt through my vaginal wall as well. That is what bloats me up as well, so I am familiar with the swelly belly as the result. Your body is still adjusting. It can take a very long time before we don't swell up after every physical activity that we do. I am sure it will get more comfortable for you as time goes by. Please don't cry! It is wonderful that you can still have a sexual relationship. Since you had success before, I think that last night was probably the exception, not the norm for you.

Please help:swelling and pain after sex
Thank you so much for your kind words but I just can't stop crying, I feel that this will not get better. The thought of being in pain each time after being intimate just terrifies me.
Is this really normal?

I thought that I had a yeast infection too, so I used Monistat. It turned out to be a mistake because the more delicate tissues of my now drier vaginal tissues could not handle the miconazole. I ended up with a combination of the cream, blood, and a thick gummy discharge. It turned out that I did not have a yeast infection so I used a vaginal moisturizer to try to improve the ph of my vagina. Perhaps you were having a similar reaction? You could talk to your doctor about using an estrogen insert, or perhaps an over-the-counter vaginal moisturizer to help those tissues not become irritated from friction. Also, since your colon was aggravated, maybe taking something for gas pre-sex could help with that part of the discomfort. I hope that your next experience is a good one. I have not had sex yet, and I know it would be very uncomfortable because of the dryness, so I understand.

Please help:swelling and pain after sex
Stillhope.....
I too have had so many moments of regret about having this procedure.... But then my husband reminds me of how much pain I had for so long before the surgery, AND, how many no sex weeks we had because of long drawn out cycles.
We will eventually feel better, and then no more scheduling our lives around our cycles. Try to keep that thought when you're feeling regret. I do and it helps a little.
It is very normal to feel sad, and the crying is normal too. Our bodies have been through so much.... I am at week 6 and still bursting into tears randomly. Sometimes because I'm so frustrated, other times for absolutely no reason at all. My poor husband and 3 sons just stare at me - not knowing what to do!
Sending you a big hug. Keep doing your homework on this site and you'll realize you're right where you should be, and it will get better. Keep in touch, and when you feel sad, be sure to log on. You have many sisters now!
Hugs
Deborah

Hi debrajo,
I continue to take pain med's and I'm feeling a little better today. I still feel like this journey will never end but I try really hard like you said to think about the future.
This site has been a great help and I can't thank everyone enough for being so kind.
Thank you so much for your reply and being a great sister.

{{{{{HUGS}}}}
Sorry I have no advice for you as I had my surgery more recently, but I feel for you and wanted to send you a hug.
(I notice you're from Ontario, I lived there my whole life until this past Aug when we moved to Ohio. So nice to see a Canadian here!)
