Kelly

I am 4 weeks post op today and I'm having a horrible time! I finally had this surgery after years and years of horrible endometriosis and other women telling me how much better I'd feel. Well, I'm still having a lot of endo. pain and my doctor says it isn't endo (even though I KNOW it is). Has anyone else had this experience? Did your pain ever get better, do I just need to give it more time? I haven't had a life for the last several years because of the endo. and now all I can do is cry because I thought this would help. Thanks for your help.

Re: Kelly

I had my surgery on 12/12. TODAY is the first day I woke up with no pain (if you can believe it) and NOT exhausted. Right now I am wearing a tummy binder and have minimal pressure pain. If you asked me just yesterday I would have told you that I did not know. Today is such a different story. Believe me in no means am I ready to go back to my normal life (which is hard to remember because of all the pain and bleeding I was dealing with for so long) BUT I can see the light today. I will do a few things around the house and try walking around the block. (I did this for the first time 2 days ago) Cry all you want today.....you have earned it....but everyday you WILL get better, even if it is not as fast as you had anticipated

Re: Kelly

Your profile shows your hysterectomy was a year ago so what surgery did you just have? If any endometriosis was left behind, it could be causing the pain. However, depending on your surgery and how well you are healing there can be a wide variety of issues that cause pain even at 4 weeks post op. Have you been overdoing it a bit? Do you have any other symptoms?

Also, if your doctor was very meticulous with excising endometriosis, that can cause some extended pain as it all heals.

If you need help managing your pain and your surgeon won't help, talk to your GP.

Re: Kelly

No, my hysterectomy was only 6 weeks ago, I don't know why it would say that. My dr. doesn't have a clue so I'm needing to find a specialist close by. I am in such a bad place with this. I wish I wasn't here anymore.

(((jkwalter5)))

Do not hesitate to visit your nearest ER for both your pain and emotional state.

Here is an article with some tips for finding a specialist which you may find helpful: How Can I Find a Doctor Who Specializes in Endometriosis?

You should also be keeping a symptom diary to share with your medical team.

For more information about endometriosis specifically, feel free to pop over to our Endometriosis Support forum where ladies understand what you are going through. We understand even if your current doctor doesn't!

Also, if you will share your hysterectomy date, we can fix it for you. Or you can use this link to edit it.
