ugh hate being in limbo with my hysterectomy

So I know I am having the surgery. But the Drs office seems to think "oh when I get around to scheduling you, you will know when it is". I have kids to arrange care for, a house to get ready. I am jumpy every time the phone rings in case they say "we had a cancellation, how is tomorrow?"

I dont want to be THAT patient and call her all the time.....

Re: ugh hate being in limbo....

I would not like that one bit. I planned for my hysterectomy date a few weeks in advance. I think it's important you have a say in what is best for you. In other words, if you have the most help available on the weekends, maybe they can schedule you for a Thursday. I think something as major as a hysterectomy warrants you being THAT patient .

Omgosh, I'm so sorry for being ignorant. I had no idea your wait could be that long . Blessings and respect.

Re: ugh hate being in limbo....

I feel your pain! I am waiting for a date as well (Canada too), and the phone rings ~ my heart skips a beat and it is someone wanting to sell me something..... gah!

Don't know if I will feel better when I get the date, but I can plan my panic

Take care x

Re: ugh hate being in limbo....

I'm in Ontario, Canada. My uterus, bladder, and bowels prolapsed in April 2013 and it was January 2014 when I was fixed. I hear ya on the "waiting for the call". I was on a cancellation list too. But was notified a month prior to my surgery. Which was still a bit hectic to plan for kids and the house. I know that if you have any cancer or pre cancer the wait time seems to be around 4-6wks for in my area.

Good luck my Canadian friend!!

Re: ugh hate being in limbo....

I am sure it is hard to wait. And you do have so much to prepare for in order for things to go well. Try to be patient and hopefully all will work out.
You know they say the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Maybe you should call every other day and ask if it has been scheduled yet.
I had to wait a week or two before I found out my date.
It is hard.
Good luck!
