question, sorry LONG
I had "exploratory" surgery on Jan 27, 1 week after my last period, the doc had me take my birth control pills during the week i was on (he needed to explore right after my period but while taking the pill)
Anywho... i had ALOT of bleeding following this surgery and oddly enough still have other issues (belly still swolen and bruise finally going away) i am scheduled for TAH/BSO on feb 28th, and i would have thought i would start my period a couple of days ago but here were are 8 days before surgery and i haven't had a period.
I had to wait 2 weeks after surgery to have intercourse, but we've had plenty (lots) in the last week or so....with surgery comming so fast i just wonder why i haven't started? i was on 21 day pack...which i finished last weekend
All these years being on birth control i could pick the exact day i would start...but i didn't have surgery between, lose alot of blood etc...so i'm just wondering if a person can have a period (all the other symptoms are there, i'm PMSing... when i should be bleeding) without bleeding? or have i managed to get myself pregnant right before a TAH/BSO?

(((Nette)))
Since your period is when your body sheds the lining of your uterus, I don't think there's any way that you could have had one without bleeding, but the exploratory surgery that you just had might have interfered with your normal schedule.
I'm sorry, the only answer I really have for you is to urge you to call your doctor's office in the morning, just in case there is even the remotest possibility that you might be pregnant.
Please let us know what happens.

Thanks Karen
i called the docs office as you suggested. I had totally forgotten that he did a D&C as well as the exploratory. My cycle (shedding) is probably just messed up a bit...also informed me that if i started next week and went in for surgery bleeding that it would not stop the surgery..i thought that was odd, however, they ARE doing a TAH/BSO so i guess they could just "plug up" any vaginal bleeding if they needed too....
Sorry that sounded bad...
Thanks again....
