I saw my OB who removed my tubes, she originally suggested a hysterectomy since I wasn't interested in having more kids and referred me to a pelvic pain specialist. The specialist saw my pictures and immediately said hysterectomy since I didn't want more children. I think they both thought it was best to just clean house if possible. Hopefully my adhesions won't return.

Did you get a second opinion?

I didn't get a second opinion before my surgery but I don't feel I needed one. Every female in my family seems to have problems with their lady parts. Including my mother & twin sister. I had pre-cancer cells removed several times in the last 5 years. The doctor at the time didn't recommend a hysterectomy even though my tubes had been cut & tied for years & both my kids were grown & I had no interest in babies in my late 30s/early 40s. I stopped getting pap smears for a few years when I lost my job & insurance. After getting on Medicaid, I went to another doctor since the original doctor had moved. She referred me to the doctor who did the surgery.

Did you get a second opinion?

I did get a second opinion… Because I did not feel comfortable with the doctor that suggested I get a hysterectomy. Within the first two sentences after saying I should get a hysterectomy, he was telling me all the things that can go wrong so right then and there I thought he's not confident. There's a time and a place for all of that but not right after you tell me I should get a hysterectomy. And I'm glad I got a second opinion because I love The Doctor Who I chose she did a great job ! If you don't feel 120% confident with your doctor definitely get a second opinion

Did you get a second opinion?

Yes I did. Wanted to be sure this was right for me at this point. I too did not like the first Doctor I went to.

Did you get a second opinion?

I did not get an "official" second opinion. I am in nursing school and during my ob rotation I spoke to my professor who is a nurse practitioner in an ob office. She agreed with the opinion of my ob/gun who I trust.

Re: Did you get a second opinion?

Having seen the MRI and showing it to the nursing staff at work (who felt sure a hysterectomy would be necessary) i felt confident and REALLY feel comfortable with my current doctor. Its a large practice and she had reviewed my case with several drs who all also agreed.

Did you get a second opinion?

So I had asked for a hysterectomy for over 10 years. I was diagnosed with fibroids (had a myomectomy) then adenomyosis (tried Mirena work first 5 years replaced it didnt work) and the another life changing diagnosis was MS. I saw 4 different doctors all which said no to hysterectomy because of my age. My 5th doctor finally said yes.

Did you get a second opinion?

I did not get second opinion. I am very comfortable with Dr and staff and feel fortunate to be a patient of theirs. Good medical care can sometimes be a challenge where I live. Regardless I felt comfortable with my Dr and her abilities from the beginning. She was the only one that could provide any answers to me about all of the issues I had been experiencing over the last decade.

Did you get a second opinion?

Got a THIRD opinion, all were the same. Now it's between the two OBgyn. One does robotic, one does not. Going to talk to the robotics surgeon Monday. I'm 34 with fibroids, total hysterectomy leaving ovaries. Possible surgical date July 2017
