Infections!!

My surgury is set in 2 weeks. Today I went to the doctor with severe pelvic and back pain. I have a yeast infection, a vaginal bacteria infection and a bladder infection. They put me on diflucan, flagyl, and cipro.
At first I thought I was just having the same ole pain I always have with the prolapsed parts. Man I sure am glad I went in.
Has anyone experience this with prolapse? This is the first for me and I dont want to experience it again!
I hope it is cleared up before surgury. I just dont think I could handle it if surgury was cancelled!

Infections!!

Hi teddylynn I'm sorry you're having trouble with infections, but glad you went to see your DR about it. I never had any type of vaginal infection in my life until I experienced a severe prolapse. Suddenly I was getting yeast infections pretty much continuously.

Please keep in mind that taking antibiotics for the bacterial infections predisposes you to getting further yeast infections. Yeast infections are very common post op for all of us! Here's a link to info about yeast infections and their treatments:

Yeast infection?

I hope this helps. Good luck with your surgery, I'll look forward to seeing you over in Post Op!

Infections!!

Hi terri,

I'm glad you went to your doctor right away - hopefully the antibiotics will clear up the infections quickly so you'll feel better and won't have a delay in your surgery. It sounds as if you're on some pretty powerful stuff.

Be sure to keep us posted on how you are feeling.
