Surgery scheduled and insurance denied authorization; frustrated!

I'm new to the site and was so comforted to find this support group. Have had chronic infection/discharge since birth of my daughter six years ago. All tests show nothing! Tried everything including homeopathic/ozone therapy, you name it. Most recently found polyp when this fall when I started with almost overnight increased heavy bleeding. Periods have been painful last two years. Doctor agreed it was time for hysterectomy and we were all set to go on April 13th for di Vinci. Insurance company denied authorization in the 11th hour. Very frustrated with insurance company. My family is complete and I'm tied of what is going on with my body! Doctor is frustrated too. Not convinced that insurance company's advice for non-evasive measures like abliation are going to solve the problem either. Frustrated with run around!

Can you appeal?

I work for an insurance company.. Sometimes all that needs to happen is your doctor will have to supply more medical records to the Med Review Department or you can file an appeal the denied authorization.. would keep on top of both the insurance company and the doctor. Hope all goes well.
